I call shotgun!...
Posted by [Mage]vas on 02/07/08 10:04 PM |
Well this is the first post of 2008! Only took a month for someone to post something semi-useful or interesting. This task is being done by myself, and due to that I'm going to ramble.
On the World of Warcraft front, is there any other front? I dunno. Curse Gaming has launched a beta of Wowdb.com, a item/quest/etc database similar to the works of Wowhead.com. This new comer to the Warcraft db-verse has a couple cool features: search assistant, 3D model previews, item comparison, armory import, etc. Those being the cooler of the features. Hope people give it a shot, enjoying how it works so far!
In other news, Valve and Turtle Rock are working on a new game, Left 4 Dead. Summary: Left 4 Dead is a multiplayer cooperative survival horror shooter in development by Valve Corporation based on the Source engine. There are two sides, the Survivors and Infected. Four players control the four Survivors, working their way through campaigns in rural and urban areas, fighting off dozens of the AI-controlled "infected" (fast, 28 Days Later style zombies). On top of the regular zombies, there are [u]four player-controlled "boss zombies"[/u] all with unique powers for causing chaos. This mix of the dozens of AI-controlled infected zombies and the boss zombies makes for an entirely fresh co-op experience. ... interesting..
CS-Nation has a two part preview [one|two] of the game so go check it out on the CSN links above to see whether or not this zombie-fest is for you. Also is the link to Gametrailer's HD trailer for the game, its more of a teaser. Definitely reminds me of 28 Days or Dawn of the Dead.
Other than that...uh .. oh and the Patriots lost. : (

Call of Duty 4
Posted by [Mage]Spooks on 10/19/07 11:33 PM |
I downloaded the demo HERE and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was pretty tough partly due to the fact that I didn't know what to expect. The best description I can give is, it seems like a combination of Call of Duty 2 and Operation Flashpoint maybe.
"It has been confirmed by Infinity Ward that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will ship with 16 maps out-of-the-box (thanks FPSAdmin). Definitely some great news for those who like extra variety."

Orange Box Pre-Orders
Posted by [Mage]vas on 09/13/07 11:41 PM |
Well apparently you can now pre-order The Orange Box and get to play TF2 beta on 9/17. Kinda cool I guess, the videos look cool.
"The Orange Box features three highly-awaited new games by Valve: Half-Life® 2: Episode Two, the second installment in the Half-Life 2 episodic trilogy; Team Fortress® 2, the sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map; and Portal, the game that blends puzzles, first person action, and adventure gaming to produce an experience like no other.
To bring gamers up to date with the Half-Life 2 universe, The Orange Box also includes Half-Life 2, the best-selling and highest-rated action game series of all time, and the episodic debut Half-Life® 2: Episode One."
So thats HL2/HL2 Ep1/HL2 Ep2/Portal/TF2 for $45. Not too bad I guess (better than the individual price breakdown they show). BUT if you also want CS:S/HL:DM/DoD:S you need to fork over another $30 for the "Source Multiplayer Pack". So if thats correct (let me know if I am wrong) it doesn't sound as cool. |

Bioshock Released
Posted by [Mage]vas on 08/22/07 04:25 PM |
BioShock has now been released via Steam.
"BioShock is one of the most critically-acclaimed games in years, with a 97% average Metacritic rating. Players enter the game as a castaway in Rapture, an underwater utopia torn apart by civil war. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically modified "splicers" and deadly security systems, players have to come to grips with a deadly, mysterious world filled with powerful technology and fascinating characters. No encounter ever plays out the same and no two gamers will play BioShock the same way."

The Future Desktop is here - in 3D
Posted by [Mage]-BadPing- on 03/25/07 08:14 AM |
I've been playing around with Beryl, a fully 3D desktop. It turns the desktop into a cube that you can use to navigate outside of boring and flat 2D desktop space, among other things. The full feature set can be seen here. If you read down that list, you'll notice that there are both Aero and Aqua-style features combined in one linux package.

And yes, this is only for Linux. So go ditch that POS Vista/OSX setup and get with a winner, baby

"The day has finally arrived, the first DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 graphics hardware is here and NVIDIA is the first out of the gate. And this happens to be another hard-launch as we have come to expect from NVIDIA and its partners! Not only is NVIDIA introducing new hardware but it is a totally new architecture that was built with completely new ideas for supporting the next DirectX version."

DailyTech has the story on Microsoft's newest OS.

There are many flavors from which to choose, but you had better that your hardware is up to it. |
